Safari · Private 4×4 · Optional Coast Add-On

Amboseli · Tsavo West · Taita Hills

5 Days / 4 Nights  |  Nairobi to Amboseli, Tsavo West & Taita Hills

About This Package

This seamless five-day journey carries you from Nairobi into the elephant country of Amboseli, through the raw volcanic landscapes of Tsavo West, and up to the ridge-top views of the Taita Hills — three of Kenya’s most rewarding wildlife landscapes, back to back. Travel by private 4×4 Land Cruiser with a pop-up roof. The safari stands fully on its own: priced, bookable, and complete without anything else added.

When the safari ends, you choose the ending — a private road return to Nairobi, or an optional North Coast beach extension by train. The coast add-on is never baked into the base price.

What to Expect

  • Amboseli elephant country — large herds against the snow-capped backdrop of Mount Kilimanjaro
  • Tsavo West’s volcanic wilds — Shetani Lava Flow and crystal-clear Mzima Springs with underwater hippo viewing
  • Taita Hills private sanctuary — off-road tracking and optional night drives for leopard and hyena
  • Private overland safari — any-date departure in a dedicated 4×4 Land Cruiser with pop-up roof

Itinerary

  1. Day 1 — Arrival in Nairobi

On arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), guests are met and transferred to the hotel to shake off travel fatigue. The rest of the afternoon is free to rest by the pool or unpack.

Overnight: Eka Hotel, Nairobi — a modern hotel on Mombasa Road, minutes from both terminals, with restaurants, a bar, and a pool. Meals: Bed & Breakfast

  2. Day 2 — Nairobi to Amboseli

Depart after breakfast, driving south-east across the Athi plains to Amboseli National Park, arriving in time for a late lunch. In the afternoon, head out on the first game drive as golden light settles over the savannah — Kenya’s premier elephant country, where large herds move against Mount Kilimanjaro. Return to lodge at sunset.

Overnight: Soroi Amboseli — an intimate luxury safari sanctuary in a tranquil forest within the park, with private decks over the plains. Meals: Full Board

  3. Day 3 — Amboseli to Tsavo West

An early breakfast, then the drive east into Tsavo West National Park, crossing the dramatic Shetani Lava Flow — a stark black landscape formed by volcanic eruptions from the nearby Chyulu Hills. Arrive at camp for lunch, then take a short afternoon drive to Mzima Springs, where crystal-clear volcanic-fed water forms an underwater viewing chamber for hippo and fish. Return to camp at sunset.

Overnight: Severin Safari Camp — an elegant, unfenced glamping camp deep within the park. Meals: Full Board

  4. Day 4 — Tsavo West to Taita Hills

A final morning game drive through Tsavo West en route to the park’s eastern boundary, exiting through Maktau Gate into the adjacent Lumo Community Wildlife Sanctuary / Taita Hills ecosystem for lunch at the lodge. After a short rest, an afternoon game drive follows — this private sanctuary allows off-road driving for close-up tracking, plus optional night drives in search of leopard and hyena.

Overnight: Soroi Lions Bluff Lodge — a boutique lodge perched on a scenic ridge with 360-degree views across the Tsavo plains to Kilimanjaro. Meals: Full Board

  5. Day 5 — Safari Close: Nairobi Return

After one last sunrise over the bluff and a hearty breakfast, travel from Soroi Lions Bluff to the highway. Guests returning to Nairobi settle back into the private 4×4 for a relaxed, scenic drive home, concluding with a direct drop-off at your door — no queues, no connections, just a smooth close to the safari.

Prefer bush and beach? Day 5 is also where the optional North Coast Extension begins — see the add-on below.

North Coast Extension

2 Nights / 3 Days  ·  Bamburi Beach  ·  From $897 per person

Why let the story end at the park gate? Add the North Coast Extension and trade dust for sea breeze — two nights / three days on Bamburi Beach, picking up directly from Day 5. This is an upsell for guests who want a longer bush-and-beach holiday. It is not included in the safari package price.

How it works on Day 5: Instead of the Nairobi road return, you are transferred to Voi Station to board the Madaraka Express. Step off in Mombasa and into a private transfer to your beachfront resort — sand underfoot before the sun goes down.

Extension itinerary
  1. Day 5 (continued) — Welcome to the Coast

Step off the train at Mombasa’s SGR station and straight into resort mode. A private transfer delivers you to your beachfront hotel on the Indian Ocean. Sink into a lounger, wander the soft white sand, or let the afternoon dissolve into an evening drink as the sun drops over the water.

Overnight: Severin Sea Lodge, Bamburi Beach — oasis-style resort with coastal dining and palm-shaded gardens. Meals: Half Board

  2. Day 6 — Full Day at Leisure

A full day with nowhere to be. Drift in the ocean, laze by the pool, or add a snorkelling trip, glass-bottom boat ride, or half-day exploring Mombasa Old Town and Fort Jesus (at own cost). Dinner is served with the sound of the tide close by.

Overnight: Severin Sea Lodge. Meals: Half Board

  3. Day 7 — Farewell Coast

One final sunrise swim, a leisurely coastal breakfast, and a last barefoot walk along the beach before check-out — closing a journey from the shadow of Kilimanjaro to the edge of the Indian Ocean.
